Do you want to be happy? Are you looking to feel fully fulfill but don’t know what you should do? Have you reach a point in your life where you are wondering what you should do to feel fulfill? These are the kinds of questions we all ask ourselves sooner or later.
They are part of a path we all walk
To try to answer these and many other questions, there are methodologies that help us define our place in the world, our purpose. I would like to tell you about the one I use in my marketing consultancies to start the process of defining the purpose with my clients: the IKIGAI method ( Ikigai is the first step to define a marketing strategy ).
What is Ikigai?
Ikigai is a Japanese concept that can be defin as the reason for being or living, it is what makes your life worth living. We have a long life and what this Japanese philosophy (where life expectancy is especially high) proposes is a lifestyle that allows us to be happy.
It depends a lot on each case, but finding the meaning of your life (your purpose or brand purpose if you are a company) is a process. As with companies, from the moment we begin to define it until we live it fully, we go through several stages. Reaching its first definition is relatively quick, but the process to reach its culmination can take weeks or years. In the end, it is about reaching a real quality of life and this takes time.
Below is a video where I explain this philosophy of life in the country of Japan.
Once you fully understand the meaning of Ikigai,Your phone number library is now free of the error. And we were updating our phone number library weekly! We all want to find what makes our life fulfill. Don’t we? Finding it means making our dreams come true, it is self-realization taken to its maximum expression that leads us to make our potential flourish and feel that our work (our contribution to life) makes a difference in the lives of others.
To take the first step in your definition of Ikigai is perfect. It is simple to understand and apply. Taking the next steps towards its fulfillment depends on our ability to walk the path between our brain and our heart. The first step is to define it rationally, but what leads us to complete the process is to feel full fulfillment through the happiness of others. The most important thing in the definition is to understand the true meaning of the Japanese term Ikigai and its implications for you. It seems obvious once you understand the concept, but if you go deeper you will realize its implications grow and grow.
Methodology to define your Ikigai
The figure below summarizes the methodology. We begin its definition by determining its four main elements in the order that I advise you to use to define your ikigai:
What you LOVE to do: which doesn’t always coincide with what you’re good at. When do you feel you get the most enjoyment out of doing something? What things would you do even if you weren’t paid? You can use a phrase to generate ideas: “ I feel happy when… ”
What the world NES : You can start by putting things that people close to you, family, friends, etc. ne and add generic, and even global, things that occur to you. It is a way of not putting limits on your ideas. In the end you will see how the craziest ideas will be eliminat by themselves.
What problems ne to be solv? What nes ne to be satisfi?
To inspire yourself you can use the phrase: “What my friend nes is…”, “what my brother nes is…”.
What you can get paid for : Write down the things you are currently getting paid for, but don’t forget the things you would like to get paid for in the future.
What you are GOOD at : What things are you especially good at?
Note : If you want to define your purpose, at the end of the article I leave you a diagram that will help you do so.
The second step is to select the defin elements that we could place at the different intersections between the basic pillars of the Ikigai concept. If we place them at the intersection of two circles, you will be representing:
Mission : It is the result of combining what you love to do with buy fax lists resource what the world nes.
Vocation : Of the things the world nes, which ones do you get paid for (or could you get paid for)?
Profession : These represent the things you can get paid for and are good at.
Passion : Most likely, the things you are good at and enjoy doing represent your passions. What you feel most fulfill doing.
As I was saying, depending on where you place each element
The meaning varies. The third step is to place them at the intersection of three circles, we can have these sensations:
Enjoyment and fulfillment : what I love + what the world nes + what I’m good at . We get to feel fulfill, but we don’t make money from it.
Excitement and complacency : what I love + what the world nes + what I agb directory get paid for . It’s something we love, that excites us, but that generates a feeling of uncertainty, because we’re not calm because we know we’re not good at it.
Comfortable, but empty feeling : what I’m good at + what I get paid for + what the world nes .
You feel comfortable doing these things, but you feel empty because you don’t like doing them. This is the closest thing to the situation of many people at work, don’t you think? They have a certain satisfaction because they are earning a salary doing something they are good at, but they are somewhat lost and unmotivat because they don’t like it.
Satisfaction but with a feeling of worthlessness :
What I love + what I’m good at + what I’m paid for. You feel like you’re not contributing much, because you’re not contributing to the happiness of others. That’s why you have the feeling of emptiness. Why am I doing this?
